No, it doesn't use the registry at all. Profiles are saved as files (usually more than one), just like SE & Pro. These are saved in the same folder as the program (locked to that in the NoInstall version - for obvious reasons) - as shown via Preferences menu > Options > Expert tab > top 'setting' (not that you can change it)
When do you get the error about the DLL? It can't be for the same reason as the other guy, as automatic backups of profiles are not actually performed (not supported) in the Free version, and it was during that process that he was getting the error.
I can't get SyncBackFree to replicate that error on my PC, but it may be because I have that DLL registered already (I have all possible models of SB installed already, as you might guess).
