We've sorted this out, it wasn't FZ causing the problem as we have about 15 other customers backing up fine through the same "channel" as such.
This was caused by a customer tinkering with their firewall and then denying making any changes, until they rolled back and it magically started working.
The problem I have with upgrading, our v4 keys don't work with v6 so it's time to go hat in hand to the boss for the support/upgrade keys.
