You'd be amazed how answering the same question twice in two places has no effect on (other) people asking the same question again anyway. So I tend to take the quick option of making the post not look 100% unanswered, but...(note: you can't simply post a link: tickets are private). Of course, it depends which I find/answer first, because of course no-one ever says 'I posted this in n places at once, using the scattergun approach' to tip you off so you can choose the most judicious place to (you get the idea).
Anyhow, as per the examples in the Help (my underline)
*\
*\*.txt
All text files (.txt) in all folders. The *\ filter ensures all folders are looked at
Replace .txt with .jpg to get
*\
*\*.jpg
You should not ignore the de/selection auto-update, or it won't de-select the non.jpg stuff that should now be de-selected. Given that (as per the Help) de/selections override filters....(unless you turn off the de/selections altogether via the checkbox at foot of Choose dialog)
Ctrl-A to highlight All / right-click > Tick Selected should re-tick all.
BTW2, just in case you wanted all JPGs in one big heap (no path info), that can't be done. It's sometimes called folder-flattening and is not supported by design (bear in mind files of the same name would overwrite each other, for one thing). You can possibly find utilities to do it or write a script if you're so minded.
