Odd (and as you can see, this forum is not littered with multiple such reports.) Have you tried switching off Filtering and de/selections (the Choose dialog on the Simple settings page)? Both dialogs have checkboxes to do so at the foot. If you do have (and need) filters or de/selections to be in place, you can turn them off temporarily and do a Simulated Run to test if the scan speed then improves (and a scan is all that will happen, apart from maybe creating a log of what it would have done, which you can disregard if you want).
Unfortunately, this is not something you can usually debug if no errors are reported. Even debug logging will only show longer gaps than you might expect between each logged event, but (if no error messages), that could equally be Windows running the APIs we call very slowly, or the devices responding slowly, etc. There's no way to tell which is the case.
