I've now been syncing Laptop <--> Network Drive <--> Desktop for a week and it works pretty well.
To set it up, I initially made a profile on the laptop for "Mirror" to mirror the documents folder to the network drive. Then on the desktop mirrored the network drive docs folder to the desktop. Deleted both of those mirror profiles. Then set up a "Synchronize" profile to sync the docs folder on each of the two PCs with the docs folder on the network drive. Just personal preference, but I chose to leave versions on left and right stored as subfolder on base folder, and I set it to run at login and also every 30 minutes. Of course, I'm syncing the user folder, but only choosing the "my documents" and "desktop" etc subfolders and not appdata etc. And I had to set up my filter to NOT sync outlook PST files.
Specifics for migrating from Live Mesh were just that I uninstalled live mesh first, deleted all of the *.wlx files (using free program called "Everything").
So far so good.
I believe this could be easily done with SyncBack free version, though I have SE, and maybe 2BrightSparks should make a blog post about how to migrate from Live Mesh to SyncBack for P2P user folder sync?
