Set it to prompt you, and then run it in such a way that prompts are not disabled overall?
If the profile deleted files without prompting you, this is because it was set to delete without prompting. If set to prompt first it will either prompt you if it can, or skip the file/s if it cannot.
Double-check your settings. Quite a few situations have an option to delete files automatically, and it sounds like you still have some set to do so. If so, and the relevant circumstances arise, it will do what you told it to...
