I will upgrade and test again, thanks Dave. I'd looked thru the release notes and couldn't find anything about this topic except in the Pro version (about SMART iirc) so thought I would ask before risking the stability of my system.
The PC I am using is a W7 HP x64, and in the past when SyncBack has had a problem e.g. a file that was locked & couldn't be copied or some such, I would find on the desktop afterwards an open log window with the summary of errors at the bottom.
I'll take a System Restore snapshot, and then a very deep breath, and upgrade to v6.
