One last thought: you could also compress/attach the log and use a custom body text to tell you whether there is anything in it you need to see (thus, extract, and if not, optionally delete).

Note that for technical reasons, custom body texts are not stored as part of any Shared Settings for email, but you can of course easily copy/paste them between profiles.
