Re: Deleting files from destination

The settings you choose and the Type that is displayed are inter-dependent (up to a point), with certain standard Types displaying for certain standard groups of settings (decisions). If you change the Decisions manually, the Type will reflect that. There are also short-cut methods (for your convenience) to set or change all Decisions to the default for that Type by selecting a Type

The profile Type is set to Mirror.... if you choose to delete files that are on one side but not the other (one direction only); the Type will be set to ...Right or ...Left (depending which side you choose to delete orphans from). If you set it for both sides, the Type will be set to Custom (ie, non-standard). If you set it to Copy (update, i.e., files on both sides but different) in one direction but delete one-side-only files in the other direction, that also shows Custom (ie, non-standard). It's not a common requirement but is actually possible if you want it.

Basically, Backup means resolve differences only by copying (do not replicate absences on X by deletions on Y), and Mirror means both copy and delete (as appropriate, in the direction specified).

None of our software will copy the same file again if it already exists (and matches) on both sides. We only resolve 'differences'.

This has been the same for some considerable time, and is nothing to do with the update to 6.5.30.0
