Hi Dave, thanks for the quick response.
I am a registered user of SyncBackPro, I have installed a copy, and my questions are based upon genuine questions, not imagined ones.
I made simple backup of my Photos directory to an external drive, no compression, no encryption:
Source: C:\users\jan\my pictures Destination J:\ I named the profile "backup photos."
I have looked on my J:\ drive for any files that might be the backups from SyncBackPro, but I don't see them. If I found them I could probably answer my next question without needing to bother you. Is it possible that you can tell me the format and extension of the backup file names and I can look for them?
Here is the scenario I want to test: If I have a full backup on Monday, alter a photo on Tuesday and do another backup Tuesday night, accidentally delete the photo on Wednesday and now want to retrieve the Tuesday copy, how do I proceed? Can I retrieve the photo by finding the Tuesday Backup files and locating the photo via Win7 commands, or do I need to use SBP Restore function to retrieve the file? Or do I somehow need to start with Monday's full backup and add in Tuesday's incremental backup.
I have only used encrypted, compressed backup software before, but I like the idea of having direct access, just not familiar with how it works.
Thanks again,
jan
