Trying to keep files beginning with "~" from being backed up

I've set up my backup profile and for the most part it works fine. Generally speaking, profile uses:

Default filters
Weekly backup
Run profile when any file/folder changes in source
No fast backup
Versioning

The one issue I haven’t been able to resolve is when I open a program such as MS Word or other programs, Windows creates a temporary file during editing which starts with "~". SyncBackPro then immediately backs up this file to destination. Even after editing is completed the files remains there even as the final edited copy is backed up. This is creating unnecessary files on destination folder as well as in the hidden versioning folder.

I'm assuming all Windows programs that edit a file do this (do they all use "~" prefix?). How do I avoid this so only the final saved file is backed up? I don't think I want to use the option of specifying "Run this profile when any of these programs stop" as that would be impractical to keep up with, plus it still would back up the ~ file.

Perhaps use a DOS expression filter in "Files/folders not to copy" which also keeps it from going into the hidden version folder? If that's the best method Is the DOS expression *\~*.* the correct format? Should I include any other prefixes?
