Hi, is it possible you have your WD drive connected to a USB hub that is unable to supply enough power to it when under load (heavy usage, like data copying)? Most PCs have a mix of USB 2 + 1.x (with more modern PCs sporting USB 3.0 ports). If your hard drive plugs into an external USB hub with USB ports that can't supply enough power there is a possibility that the drive may self-disconnect and requires a re-connection for Windows to detect it.
The reverse-tests (with WD being the Destination) might not have stressed it as much if you only did a simple test to copy some files across instead of large data sets. Did you try to swap ports when you were cross-testing it?
If you're using external hubs, switch to internal USB ports and try to use a port that matches the USB your drive uses.
There is no functionality in our program to disconnect during mid-run. There is an option to disconnect only after the run is completed, but not mid-run. This option can be found at Modify > Expert > Misc. > Media and I doubt you will have this function turned on (which should not cause your drive to disconnect mid-run anyway, since it only does its thing after a run is complete).
It seems it might have something to do with your system, basing on the fact that there are no other users complaining the same issue in our forum.
