You may be making it more complicated than it has to be.

I want source/destination scan to always occur.
I know this can add time to the backup.

My initial question was, is Fast Backup usually faster than not using Fast Backup?? You seem to say it is usually faster.

Following this, if I use Fast Backup, how do I make the profile always scan source/destination??
