My apologies Dave.
When I looked at the error file the critical error was due to the file being locked as it was being accessed by another file. This is however the only occasion that a critical error has been reported.
The usual problem is that the backup keeps running for hours and also does not respond to stop, or is perhaps very slow to do so. The whole computer becomes slowed down requiring a reset.
I cleaned out all the unnecessary subdirectories and files from the source but a subsequent backup, involving 3 .pst files totalling 2.6GB, took 5h 30min.
V5 was always much faster. Is it possible that the slowdown is because my files have grown larger or is there more likely another problem? My CPU is Celeron 2.67GHZ; 1.49GB RAM.
