What compression format are you using? If you are using LZMA, please note that running it at the highest compression level (ie, level 9) has been known to easily cause out of memory errors as LZMA needs A LOT of memory to compress the files.
Try lowering the compression level to 8 or below.
Note that in V6.5.30.0 onwards, these out of memory errors are properly recorded.
