Re: Run Program Before with Notepad file doesn't work

Hi, the command string you quoted:

Notepad%HOMEPATH%\test.txt

may have a wrong syntax due to the missing space after 'd'. Based on our tests,

Notepad %HOMEPATH%\test.txt

works just fine and it was able to open the test.txt file. Of course, this is assuming that the test.txt actually exists in that path (...%HOMEPATH%\...) as that is just an example for one of the several variables you can use for Programs-Before settings page.

If the file in question doesn't exists, then it will open Notepad and then ask if you want to create the TXT file at the designated location.

Regarding your second question, it might be possible to create a custom VB script with a Yes/No prompt and base it's decisions to run or not from the return value of this script under Programs-Before. You could also include the variable %PROFILENAME% to the script so that it displays the name of the profile in question thereby making it possible to use with multiple profiles, etc.

And sorry, we don't provide bespoke support in designing/troubleshooting custom scripts for users. We provide the scripting facility, the Scripting section in the Help, and examples are provided in the program folder and the Scripting page of the website. The rest is up to the user.

In addition, be aware that depending on how you set up your Scheduled Task, you may not be prompted with the app configured under Programs-Before due to the profile running under a different Windows Session.
