Have you pre-formatted the CD as UDF? Only the Pro version can burn to 'raw' blank CDs (as purchased). SE & Free versions use packet-writing (via the OS), which requires pre-formatting as UDF using 3rd-party tools before it can operate.
KB article 153 refers, and it's also documented in the Help (Using SyncBackFree > 'Expert mode > CD/DVD Burner). Note that you don't have such a settings page (CD/DVD Burner) in the Free version (guess why?
) but you do have such a Help section, which if you do
Help > Search > 'CD' (without the quotes)
is the top hit
Bear in mind that (as stated 'above the door' in this forum area), SyncBackFree is not an evaluation version of the commercial software. Features that are not available are generally not shown at all.
30-day trials are available of the commercial versions:

The differences are here

Do not uninstall SyncBackFree or you will defeat the auto-profile import feature. The SE & Pro versions can be installed in parallel with SyncBackFree and/or each other (also V3 freeware). Do not install any 'model' to the same folder as another (just accept the default folders for an easy life). The SE & Pro versions will uninstall cleanly if you decide not to purchase. If you do decide to purchase, the serial number will unlock whichever version you decide to license. There is no need to uninstall the 'trial' and download a 'registered' version. Entering the serial number converts the former to the latter. Any version you decide not to keep will uninstall without affecting the version you do keep (if any).
(Note: any auto-profile import will not include any Schedules (to avoid double-triggering). If you want to switch your Scheduled profiles over, you need to delete the Schedules from the version where they were created and re-create them from the version where you want them)
