Is there any reason why you need it formatted as FAT32? (Use with a Mac?)
If not, you could try re-formatting as NTFS.
There is also a CONVERT command-line utility in Windows that might do it without deleting the current content, but make sure you have other copies of all files before you try that: if it trashes the files during the process, you are then no worse off then re-formatting to start with
