Hi

1) Are you sure you're posting in the correct forum? The error you are receiving seems likely to be connected to the disk-based database used when scanning/comparing large numbers of files, which is a SyncBackPro-only feature...and this is the SE forum area.

2) Which V6 are you using? We have over 60 v6's now (including betas). The exact version number in the form 6.x.x.x is available on the Taskbar button, the program title bar and the Help > About title bar (the Help > About graphic shows only '6', but the title bar shows the full number). Please always include the exact version number in a ticket or forum post

As stated, the error you are receiving seems likely to be connected to the disk-based scan&compare database (assuming you are using the Pro version). It may be related to a lack of space (or quota...) in your TEMP area (usually on C, but may be redirected elsewhere via Windows)

If it seems you have lots of free disk space/quota, it may be useful to Export all your profiles, un-install & re-install (then re-Import). This KB article contains details how to do so (obviously in your case, you would be using the same PC throughout). Strongly recommend re-boot the PC also at this point.

If you still have problems, suggest make sure your version is up-to-date (the latest version is 6.3.7.0), sign up for ticketed support and supply a Support Zip with debug-out (from a run with the latest official release version).

No problem - we just needed to be sure which version (SE/Pro) you were using :)

Duly moved to the SyncBackPro section

Not sure I understand the problem, but we don't ever copy in any order except the order of discovery by scanning using recursion. That is, files are copied in the order of where they are, not how old or how large, etc.

At a guess your FTP server does not (reliably?) support force-setting the date/time to match your Source. And presumably does not support Resume either. If the connection drops (and slow speeds tend to indicate network issues that can also cause dropouts), SE will try to Resume (if it can re-connect) where it left off. If it cannot Resume because the FTP server does not support that (or, you have disabled our Safe Copy setting, on which Resume relies in SE), it will start again at byte-0. Naturally, a slow connection means it will take longer, thus increasing the risk that another drop will happen (cue another RESTart at 0...)

Note: it is quite probable that the FTP server does not support Verify (hashing) anyway. If not, there will be an entry in the log to say so. FTP servers need to support XCRC to achieve hashing (thus, Verify), and most do not.

Thank you for answer. I will set my linux server to support hashing. Is there something more what is good to setup on ftp server to works best with SE?

And your version (number, in the form x.x.x.x) is...?

It's not 100% clear if this means you change the setting, but next time you Modify, it has the old (5 hours) setting back again? Or if it actually states '23 hours' (correctly) but still stops after 5 hours (or thereabouts).

If the latter, there isn't by any chance a Group involved that still has the '5 hour' (or thereabouts) setting in force? Given that you have some mixed singular/plural references, viz:

"some profiles..." (plural) "...that copies*" (singular) "...it..." (singular)

and both Groups and profiles can have Time Limit settings. You should also note that if an earlier profile in a Group stops c/o a Time Limit, it will cascade-stop any paused profiles in the Group still waiting to run. Time spent Paused counts towards the total.

* actually, it's not clear if "copies" refers back to "profiles" or "server"

Sounds like you have possible issues with date/time setting, and/or RESTart? I can't see from here, and we don't offer support on configuring 3rd-party software (or an OS)

I found out that, ther is not mather if connection is slow or not, because now on fast connection and with "resume" enabled on ftp server syncback still copies the same file over and over again. Until I restart windows. Yes the time and the date is changed on file on ftp server. And it is strange because only syncback does that, copys the same files over and over, no other software and I teste 4 others.

Changed to what? From what?

Re the Resume issue, we'd need to see a Support Zip with debug-out via the ticket area

Good news (I hope / don't ask!)

Do not uninstall / reinstall, or you'll lose your profiles & settings. Just install 'over the top'

Re: New Version Variable?

Windows 8 wont shutdown when Syncback runs at shutdown

Hi. I have SyncbackSE V5.20. I have it set to run on shutdown and this worked fine with Windows 7. Since I upgraded to Windows 8 it stopped working. I hit shutdown, Syncback runs, but then i am returned to the desktop after syncback finishes, rather than the computer shutting down.

This is also true of Syncback V6. I am testing that and get the same result.

Any help for a fix?

Hi dave I run the SE version. Is there a SE beta with these variables?

I found the SE beta Thanks. Ran it and works perfect!

What I've tried is 3 profiles like:
C <> X
C <> Y
C <> Z
with each set to operate when there is a change to either C or the other drive. I've also got them setup with a delay of 5, 10, and 15 seconds in the "Wait a number of seconds for no changes before running the profile:" entry.

This seems to work, but each profile ends up running 3-4 times when there is a change to one of the folders...I was hoping for a more elegant solution, but I guess this is what I've got.

I was glad to see this topic, as I am trying to get the %LABEL=% variable to work (but it doesn't). I get an error saying that the drive label does not exist, when it clearly does. This just makes your software look stupid. It would have been much more helpful to the user to give a dialog that says "This feature is not enabled in the free version."

I think I found out the problem, because now works ok, but still, sometimes works ok and than suddenly is problem because it starts to copy the same file over again. I have increase session time on server. It was 15 minutes I put it 25 minutes. I don't know why session time is problem. I notice one thing when files was completed and putted to server than all stops and I notice on syncback that it try reconnect to server, don't know why it lost connection and when it manage to reconnect than was the same file uploaded again from zero. I also check the option on syncback to try to have a live connection when backuping. There was some warning about problems with servers but, not what problems are.

About date and time I think file on PC computer have date and time when it was created, like a week ago. And when it is copied to linux server it gets a date and time when it was copied. Don't know if that is problem?

Should I report this issues or not?
Thank you
