SyncBackPro (commercial) • Profiles not downloading

$

All of my workstations have been running SyncBackPro v7.6.5.0. I am wanting to upgrade to version 7.12.12.
I have created an SCCM package to install version 7.12.12.
When I install version 7.12.12 to a new computer (a fresh install, not an upgrade) it does not download the appropriate profiles from my SBM server.
Is there something I need to do on the server to force the profiles to automatically download to the clients running the new version of SyncBackPro?

SyncBackPro (commercial) • eMail log fails just on cloud profiles

Ver. 8.5.62.0 32 bits

Hi.
I have set a few profiles to backup to a NAS Server and
I have set two profiles to backup to Google Drive (Gsuite) and authorized Syncback into GDrive

Both types of profiles works perfectly

Then I configured the "log to mail" options. I set it up to use a gmail account (The same as the GDrive storage) and authorized it

The problem is that the profiles that don´t backup to cloud work perfectly and send email logs.
But the profiles that backup to Google Drive can´t mail the logs. Trying to send mail manually with the "test email settings" button, it takes a long time and displays a 0x0000274c error.

Exactly the same setup, and only the to-cloud backup profiles fail. I did a lot of testing, authorizations, new accounts, etc etc.

Can anybody help please ??

Thanks a lot.

is there a way to use a similar function but not in real time in free version?
in other words when I delete a file from one side and then run the sync it should be deleted from the other side, is that possible?

SyncBackPro (commercial) • SyncBackPro Debug History file

Quite some time ago I remember setting up to capture the SyncBackPro Debug History, but I have no idea where I got the information from and cannot find the info again. Following is the contents of one of the files in the Debug History folder.

15:17:00=Settings Filename:C:\Users\jgt\AppData\Local\2BrightSparks\SyncBackPro\Settings.ini
15:17:00=Versions Folder:R:\_TempWork\SB Debug History\
15:17:12=BgBackup.TBgBackup.WatchForChanges.1192:RealTime-Sync Code2OutlookCategories.txt to S-CommonSharec-Code2OutlookCategories.txt - (Local to S4) [C:\CommonShare\]
15:17:13=BgBackup.TBgBackup.WatchForChanges.1206:RealTime-Sync Code2OutlookCategories.txt to S-CommonSharec-Code2OutlookCategories.txt - (Local to S4) [S:\CommonShare\]
18:44:41=BgBackup.TBgBackup.Destroy.182
18:44:42=BgBackup.TBgBackup.Destroy.208
18:44:42=BgBackup.TBgBackup.Destroy.225
18:44:42=---:LOG FILE CLOSED [04/11/18 18:44:42]
**** End of file (this line is not part of the file, I added it just to ID the end of the file. Most of the files are larger and a few are huge.
I just checked and the folder is now almost 350GB with 10,726 text files adn only goes back three months.
  1. Do I really need the folder?
  2. If I should keep the folder is there any way to automatically trim the files in the folder? E.G. Do I really need to keep 3 months?
  3. If I should NOT keep the folder, how do I turn it off?

Hi,

The debug history option stores all the debug logs in a selected directory. This is mainly used by our technical team to debug problems with SyncBack. If your issue is resolved then you can manually delete the debug history folder and turn it off from:

Help > Technical Support Wizard > right click on the Technical Support window > select ‘History Folder’ from pop-up menu > and click on ‘Cancel’ button when selecting a folder.

Thank you.

Hi,

I can't reproduce your problem. Can you please export the Google Drive profile (select the profile from SyncBackPro's main window > right click > Export Profile) and send your profile configuration to support@2brightsparks.com for further investigation.

Thank you.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • "date & time" 5 hours different on USB stick when plugged into router

$

Hello,

(I am using SycBack Pro 7.12.12.0)

I sync my laptop with a USB stick plugged directly into the laptop, every day, for years, with no problems. Today I tried something new; I plugged the same USB stick into my network router (tplink archer a2300) to try to sync to the same usb stick through wifi that I have plugged in directly to my laptop for years, but when I try to sync over wifi the date & time on the USB stick are exactly 5 hours earlier than on the laptop (so syncback wants to copy all of the files from the laptop to the usb stick through the router--even though the files had already been synced when the stick was directly plugged into the laptop a few minutes ago).

The router is set to the same time as the PC (it gets the time from the PC). When I take the usb stick out of the router and plug in directly into the laptop and sync this way, this problem disappears.

This may be an issue with my router, I don't know. Any help is appreciated. Your software is the greatest and I use it multiple times per day.

Regards,
Mike Williams

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Feat request: display log message for before/after programs

Currently when a user sets up a run before/after program on a profile, checks the option that it should abort when the program fails to start (exit code 1) the only thing that is displayed is eg. "Run Before failed".
My guess is that most users, like me, use command line apps for this option, all of which display error messages when run is failed. It would be great if that would be displayed on the UI, maybe optionally so, like "Run Before failed: MESSAGE".

Hi,

A number of SyncBack users in the past reported weird issues (file copy errors, problem retaining last modification date/time stamps and other problems) when backing-up files to a hard drive connected to a router. The possible reasons for this are explained here, which you can refer to for further details:

viewtopic.php?t=11193

If the problem disappears when the USB drive is plugged in directly to the computer then your router could be the cause of the issue.

Thank you.

SyncBackSE (commercial) • Stop Annoying Win10 "The Profile requires Attention..."

Just upgraded to SyncBackSE V8 (64 bit) from V7 (32bit).

Is there a setting somewhere to stop Windows 10 from constantly sending annoying (and loud) messages that "The profile < > requires attention before it can continue.."? With a group profile it can keep repeating many times.

Don't want to turn the sound off.

Any advice most appreciated.

SyncBackFree (freeware) • Can't backup to network device

$

I recently updated SynckBackFree to the latest version, now I can't backup anymore to my remote NAS (WD My CLoud).

When I try to start my profiles, I have a Network failure error saying that my password is invalid. My NAS is not protected with a password, I can access it via Windows Explorer without any issue. Meanwhile If I open a profile settings and I try to modify the destination, I can no longer find any network device.

How can I solve it?
Thanks

SyncBackFree (freeware) • Re: How do I setup a realtime synch

There are limitations to the sync capability in the Free version - more details above & here. Basically, it can do what you asked about (propagate a deletion from one side to the other) but what if you created a new file on the 'one side'? You can configure a basic sync to copy such a file to the other side instead, but you cannot do both (propagate both creations and deletions) on the same run using the same configuration - you have to choose one decision/action or the other / configure the profile accordingly. Whereas an Intelligent Sync in the commercial versions (Pro, SE, Lite) can decide for itself what to do as per your configuration choices (provided you have run that profile once already, so it has built a record of 'what was where' previously; you may need to monitor run-1 (only) to intervene in any 'one side only' file decisions that arise on run-1).

Note: some posts on the forum (including one in this thread) suggest 'only the Pro & SE' versions support Intelligent Sync - because they were written before the Lite version was released. The Lite version also supports this now. You can try the Lite version (also, SE & Pro) free for 30 days if you wish, provided you install the different version/s to different program folders (accepting the location/s proposed by the installer/s is the easy way)

Ideas and general discussion • Fifteen Years - Wow and Thank You!

I couldn't find a thread anywhere else to simply talk about 15 years of Syncback. I'm not sure when I first started using Syncback, having progressed from the Freeware version to SE to Pro over the years. Probably I have not used it for the full 15 years, but I had to be an early adopter - at least something like 13 years. It remains the workhorse of my backup strategy and I remain amazed at its power and flexibility.

I just want to say thank you to 2BrightSparks and the development team for an excellent product that I trust explicitly. A product that I truly cannot live without. Here's looking to another 15 years eh

SBM Service and Console • Does SMBC take up a license when connecting to SMBS?

$

I have 3 systems with SyncBack Pro and have purchased 3 licenses for SMBS. For some reason I get the following error message in SMBConsole: "The SErver has too many SMBS sessions (4) connected to it."

Under Login Sessions, I see 4 Session IDs, and 2 of which are coming from 127.0.0.1. This is the "server" that has both SyncBackPro and SMBConsole.

I just need to know if I should purchase an additional copy for connections coming from SMBConsole as this is not clarified in any documentation read so far. Thanks!
