Dave, thank you for the quick reply. Yes - a short cycle would reduce the window for restoring files/directories that have been intentionally deleted and that is the approach I will take. Great product, by the way – incredibly flexible/configurable.
A thought about handling ‘negative’ (deleted files) when restoring differential backups: I believe image backup products are able to handle this case in differential backups by virtue of having a copy of the partition’s file table (eg, MFT for NTFS) as part of differential contents. I understand there are significant differences between disk imaging programs and SyncBackPro, but I wonder whether it would be feasible to keep a ‘side car’ file for differential backups that contain a copy of the directory structure at the time of the differential … a file that contains information reflecting the structure of the subdirectories and files within the scope of the differential. If so, the file could be used to ‘restore’ the directory structure at the time of the differential.
