If I understand Syncback Touch correctly, it is a kind of "client" to a SyncbackSE or -Pro 'Server".
At present I run SyncbackSE and target the backup to my Synology NAS. If I use Touch to back up my phone or tablet (for instance), my Windows machine has to be on so SyncbackSE running on it can do the actual work (forwarding the data to the NAS).
Wouldn't it be great if we could cut out the middle man and run the SyncbackSE/Pro software on the NAS directly?
I appreciate there are a number of different NAS operating systems which complicates the code and interface designs, not to mention the subsequent maintenance effort, but it would be a unique selling point.
As a central "server" instace collating the streams from several Touch clients, SyncbackSE/Pro is also it an ideal situation to de-duplicate data as it arrives (something I've been hoping for in vain since version 4).
