Hi,

Have you enabled the application's options to change the tray icon when an error occurs? This option is under main menu's Preferences -> Options -> Easy -> Change the tray icon if any profiles have failed

As you haven't mentioned which version of SyncBackSE you are using I am assuming that you are using SyncBackSE V7. If it so, I suggest submitting a support ticket after a scan failure by using the Contact Support in the below link in this article and attach the zip file. Please note that we don't support previous versions.

If your Zip is over 30MB, contact us for alternate instructions, advising the actual size. Do not try to attach to the ticket!

FYI, we did try to simulate the problem at our side (by unplugging a USB drive while being scanned) and SyncBack gave an error plus it changed the tray icon.
