Ideas and general discussion • Menu bar of 2brightsparks.com is broken in Chrome

$

Are you aware of the fact that the menu bar of your web site does not work properly in Chrome if the current Zoom level is different from 100%?

I'm referring to the drop down menu bar featured on 2brightsparks.com web pages. The one that says "Home - Products - Downloads - Buy ..." and so on. When the user hovers over the bar with the mouse, a drop down menu is supposed to appear under the corresponding bar entry. When Zoom level in Chrome is set to a value greater that 100%, the drop down menu will appear "detached" from the bar entry and displaced down and to the right. The greater the current zoom level, the farther is the displacement. It is impossible to use the drop down menu in this mode. If the current Zoom level is below 100%, the drop down is displaced up and to the left.

I am trying to get a token for authorization. But it seems I'm having difficulty. Our sharepoint we use is on http://portal.office365.com. Syncback wants to log into login.windows.net.

As far as I know, I'm not using Azure active directory so I'm not sure about going to login.windows.com.

We did try out Layer2 Cloud Connector but it kept on updating files already uploaded over and over, it's not updating anything new but rather updating random files.

Do I need a authentication token or can I just simply enter the URL of the sharepoint site (to the folder) and enter my username and password credentials?

all I get is something like when trying to log in:

Sorry, but we’re having trouble signing you in.
We received a bad request.

Additional technical information:
Correlation ID: 834c729b-4476-4375-a3fd-af314b7d7757
Timestamp: 2015-02-18 21:19:16Z
AADSTS90093: Calling principal cannot consent due to lack of permissions.

Thanks guy for the effort. I hope we can get it working.

Hi, thanks for reporting this problem. I am sorry that the issue in Chrome prevents the site from being easily navigated when increasing or decreasing the zoom level. We're currently working on a site redesign, and the new menu will hopefully resolve this problem. In the meantime, I suggest you use the site map for navigation and open pages in a new tab:

Many thanks for the detailed reply.

By mentioning the fast backup process you have fixed my issue. the only difference is, i use a normal back up by itself to achieve my goal.

It's all possible because of the added ability to 'move' files. Because the files that are moved from the ftp server folder are 'hard linked' to another folder so the actual data remains on the server but the folder 'appears' empty so sync back doesn't try and resync files it thinks are still there.

I'm doing the same thing with sending files to the server in reverse. the 3rd party software at each end (ftp side and my pc side) monitor these folders periodically and the ability to move the files makes this function very smoothly. Syncing doesn't work with what i'm trying to achieve.

One final question if possible. If i move files from a directory on the ftp side to my pc, I would like the empty directory the files have been moved from to be deleted and not left there. I noticed that this is a possible option in the modify > decisions files > folders > what to do if folder exists on ftp and not on pc > delete directory from ftp only if file is moved/deleted from it.

This option is set to 'automatic' at the moment which leaves the empty directories there. Would this delete them as it says?

thanks (i'm on version 5.6.0.32)

SyncBackPro (commercial) • SyncBackpro crashing, wont run a profile

I created a new backup profile after rebuilding my desktop and it crashes SyncBackPro as soon as it starts during the scanning source part.

The profile backups the User folder in Windows 8.1 64-bit to a Synology NAS. I have the user/password entered under Network and tests good.

Is there somewhere I can look in a log file to see any more clues? I get a popup that says SyncBackPro has stopped working and it closes the program. I'm not sure what happened. This was working fine with the same version of SyncBackPro on the same version of Windows backing to and from the same drives. It seems to be something with scanning the User folder on C:\.

Hi, it seems you used ICE Encrypt and not EncryptOnClick to encrypt your files (or perhaps you used ICE Encrypt first and then EncryptOnClick to further encrypt). We can't help you with ICE Encrypt as it's not our product.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Slow backups

$

I've recently upgraded from a Drobo Gen2 to a 5N, so changed from USB2 connection to Gigabit Ethernet connection (my PC and the 5N are on the same switch, so the network traffic doesn't traverse my router).

I'm currently re-running my backups so they will be on the 5N. At the moment I'm running four of the backups simultaneously, on the basis that the input devices are varied, and in theory the Drobo 5N, gigabit ethernet attached should be reasonably fast.

The four backups taken in total are backing up about 2Gb per day...

Is there anything in SyncBackPro which can tell me whether the bottleneck is on the input side of the backups, or on the output side? One of the backups is from an internal SATA drive, so there should be no issues with that, although the S.M.A.R.T data does imply some marginal concerns such as elevated temperature.

The symptoms tend to imply that the Drobo 5N is running slow. It's a 5-disk redundant array, and my older Drobo slowed down when it had a disk failing and going through error recovery constantly. I'll also approach Drobo Technical Support, but I'm open to any suggestions to help me diagnose the problem.

Gigabit means max. around 120 MB/s (best case), which is more or less the max. speed of a single SATA HDD (and slower than USB 3.0). Independent on the Raid you use the Gigabit-Port is the bottleneck, esp. when starting 4 backups at the same time.

But: Not all NAS etc. reaches gigabit-speed, but it looks nice applying a gigabit-port, alltough the controller only reaches 60-70 MB/s. If so, the bottleneck is your device.

Hi, not that I'm aware of. SB (any version) will always try and set the date of the FTP-side file to match the file on the local end (to avoid repeated re-copying on every subsequent run because of the mismatch that would occur if it didn't). It's possible this force-set attempt will fail with some FTP servers, but it seems to work with yours.

Last time I looked, setting a file's date-stamp is an option in FileZilla (on the Transfer menu) and I guess probably the same in other 'transfer' utilities (either off-by-default, or doesn't-try-at-all). However, SB is primarily a backup/sync utility, and always tries to make the date-time stamps match. There's no way to turn it off.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Full backup with rotation and desired location/folder name

$

Hello dear SBP developers!

Thank you for great product. It works fine, very useful and flexible. So flexible that I cannot do what I want :) Even after Googling and reading the FM! LOL!

I want to have full backup every day with automatic rotation after one week (on the 8-th day backup data from 1-st day must be deleted). It can be done by using %DAYOFWEEK% as described in manual. But I want to have more friendly destination folder structure like:

D:\Backup\2015\20150222\

Where 20150222 is current date in YYYYMMDD format.

I don't mind too much about inconsistent calendar (issue you described many times here). Also I don't want to use Versioning, because one of my archive goes straight to single encrypted archive. Also I don't like any kind of hidden folders.

And as ideal I want to have some protection of 'No free space' on target drive. Not just to get e-mail notify, but perform backup in any case (for e.g. to other 'spare' drive or delete oldest backup subfolder).

Could you please help me with my with my need?

Thanks in advance!

SyncBackFree (freeware) • Manually comparing two files with external application

$

In the Differences windows that appears while running a sync profile, the user can right-click on any file and a list of options will appear. One of those options is Compare. This is ideal, because sometimes it is necessary to manually compare two files before overwriting one of them.

The option appears to always be dim, however. How do you configure SyncBackFree so that it can use your comparison tool of choice?

I would like to set it up to use a popular WinMerge fork: https://bitbucket.org/jtuc/winmerge2011/downloads

Hi, the change isn't as simple as adding a checkbox (it's far more complex than that). Also, you're asking for a workaround for a bug that is specific to Google Drive and only Google Drive. As mentioned in the reply to your ticket, we have no plans to add this.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Re: Full backup with rotation and desired location/folder name

Hi, if you plan to use:

..\20150222\

in your rotational backup, it would not work since on the 8th day, the %DATE% variable used to generate the current date as the folder name, would store your backups on:

...\20150230\

instead of "\20150222\" since the date in which backup was performed on the 8th day is 30th, not 22nd... (bear in mind the %DATE% variable is based on the short date format as configured in your Windows system).

In other words, there is no rotational backup since your setup would force the profile to store each backups on a new folder based on the date when the backup was run. And every day the backup was run would be a new date:

20150301
20150302
20150303
etc.

I narrowed it down to either the OneDrive folder or something in AppData. When I excluded those folders, the profile ran.
With those folders in the profile, it was a hard crash, no option to save a bug report or anything.
