Hi,

SyncBackPro downloads the native Docs files without extensions because it sees the files as-is on the cloud server. For example: "TestFile" with just the name of the file without any extension and that is what's listed on the Cloud service. Since, there is no extension for the downloaded file, the user(or Windows) may not know exact file format(of that downloaded file) to open/view it.

However, if you rename those files with proper extension(example .doc) on Google Drive, manually(prior to the download), the files gets downloaded with extensions and can be opened/viewed automatically using their default editor.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Fast Backup suddenly backups everything again

Hi,

I have several fast backup profiles which I use for years. Since Yesterday suddenly SBPro backups every file and runs for hours and hours... usually the profiles run for a minute and only backup the new and changed files. There are only just a few changes so I expect also a fast backup for each profile.
The profiles are not changed. Running the latest SBPro version. Win7-64.

Any idea what is going on and how to fix this?

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Alternating Destinations

Hello,

I'm running SyncBackPro V7.5.19.0. I currently have a backup job that backs up data from a file server to a NAS device. I recently installed a 2nd NAS device for more redundancy.

I would like to setup a single backup that would alternate destinations between the 2 NAS devices. On Monday backup to NAS-1 and Tuesday to NAS-2 then Wednesday back to NAS-1 etc. The backups are rather time consuming so I don't want to backup to both each night and besides, I like the idea of always having data from the previous 2 days available. I'm willing to lose a nights backup if a NAS device should fail since I also have a daily backup to a tape library via another method.

I know I could create 2 separate jobs with alternating days but I was hoping I could somehow through the use of variables accomplish this with a single job.

Is this possible?

If I create a batch file that runs before a profile and creates a Windows variable "NAS" that has a value of either "\\NAS1" or "\\NAS2" depending on the day of the week, is there a way I can use that variable in the Destination of a backup? I tried using %NAS% as the destination path but receive an error that the directory for the destination is incorrect.

I have also had this problem, in my case I have just updated to the latest version (V7.6.4.0) of SyncBackPro, after the update my fast backup profiles wanted to backup a large number of files that have not been modified. To workaround this issue I aborted the profiles and then forced them to rescan after which everything behaved normally. I am guessing that there is a issue with the format of the fast backup database between versions that is causing this problem. This is not the first time I have seen this problem but I can not remember if on these occasions it was just after a update.

Hi,

I recently reinstalled my PC using Windows 10. Now when I try to import profiles from my automatic backup, some load without problems, while others report "The profile file ([path to the file]) does not contain a settings file." Does anybody know how to solve this problem? I am using SyncBackPro V7.6.4.0 now and always update immediately, so before reinstalling the PC I certainly also had the latest version or the version preceding that one.

Hi. I've got a new problem with SBSE files. When i sync some folders in google drive it appears that these folders have SBSE___.*** files inside. But when i try to find them in windows explorer, there's nothing. What can i do about it ? How can i get rid of these files ?

Hi all.

Just set up a new profile and am mirroring a couple of local files to a drop box folder. I created a new folder under my dropbox root directory. There isnt anything in that folder. So I am doing a simulated run. SBP has logged onto dropbox and has spent the last 1.5 hours checking over 100,000 files.

So I assume its going up the tree. Is there an option to tell it to check just the directory its in?

I am assuming I have missed somethign but have had a couple of looks.

Hello,

Could you implement a way to pause easily a profile currently running for X minutes.
Example: right click on a currently running profile and "pause for 30 minutes" (and resume uploading alone 30 minutes later).

I ask this because sometimes I need to give sometimes bandwidth priority to one of my computer other uploads.

Hi,

Sorry, but you haven’t stated the SyncBackPro version you are using? And can you please clarify, if you have set your Profile’s Destination path to point to the Dropbox root directory (\) or to the new folder created under the root?

Can you try disabling the options "Retrieve a list of all the files and folders then filter" and "Do not use the delta API" (if enabled) under:

Modify > Expert > Cloud > Advanced settings page

and retry the profile run to see if it helps to resolve the issue.

Does SyncBackSE provide functionality similar to Windows' File History or Mac's Time Machine, where I can specify a date in the past and see the state of my files as of that date, and examine them prior to restoring?

I know about versioning, and that lets me do this on a file-by-file basis, but I would like some kind of Explorer-like tree structure showing the folder & file structures as of that date.

Maybe look into the Rollback options in (via upper menu bar on) the Differences Window? See the Help section on the D/W for details (do a Help search for 'rollback' to find it quickly). Note there are two sub-sections on Rollback, the first being a brief description of the menu options, the lower sub-section having more background/detail.

As the Help says, Rollback benefits greatly if Versioning is (and 'has been') in force, to get a wider choice of candidates. Selecting a rollback will re-populate the D/W with the suggestions whose LastModified stamp match the 'nearest to but not later than' date/time you chose. You can change the Action/s suggested (individually or in blocks via context menu), you can select other available Versions (individually) and you can right-click a row and Open any file in its native app (if any) - or, use Comparison Programs if you have SB configured to use any such. You can go back to the Rollback menu and specify a different target-date/time (also 'mode') if you wish (no rescan required).

There's no 'tree' display, though - just the usual 'flat' display you are probably familiar with.

I run syncback every day.
About the log.. I receive it by mail, is it possibile to view ONLY the information about the last backup e non of all?
The attach is more than 4MB.

The commercial (SE & Pro) versions have various options to customize what is emailed (also, what is included in the log) via

Modify profile -> Expert mode -> Log -> Email Log (also -> Advanced)

but these additional options are not supported in the Free version. This guide compares the other additional features available by upgrading, if you wish to consider that route.

Hello,

I'm encountering a problem using Syncback Free, that i daily use to make my backups. I had not problems in the past, but since a few days, i can't complete the backup, and i don't really know what it happens...It works until about 90%, and then i got error messages...

Here's a literal translation: ecurity copy failed. Impossible to rename the temporary. Can't move the file (82). Impossible to create the folder or the file.


It makes that with about 100 files. However, there's enough space to copy the files. I don't knwo how to fix it. Could you help me please?
