Ideas and general discussion • better ransomware protection

Regards
You have excellent tool, in my opinion the best one.
I suggest you that you think to add ransomware protection for separately for each profile.
For example I have ransomware protection activate for file on disk C but I usually sync my USB stick A to USB stick B.
If USB stick A is infected (files are encripted) I wish to stop sync.
I think that this option will improve your product.
Thank you
Zoran

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Best settings for OneDrive sync

$

Hi. I have been trying to find a good solution for syncing my files with OneDrive. The OneDrive sync isn't appropriate for my needs, so I have evaluated one program, but that didn't do the job. I am now looking at this software. Having spent a lot of time before trying to find the right settings, and then finding they didn't do what I wanted, I wondered if anybody here could make some recommendations.

I am looking for a setup where changes on my PC are reflected on OneDrive as quickly as possible. This will be the normal situation, i.e. most of the time I will be working on the PC and changes will happen there. But sometimes I will be travelling and then changes will happen on OneDrive. When I get back, I want these changes to be reflected on the PC as soon as possible. It is this aspect that I am uncertain about. I assume setting the real time setting will deal with the left to right syncing, but is there any way I can make the right to left, i.e. cloud to PC happen relatively automatically and reliably?

Thanks in advance.

Kevin

Hi,

You can create an Intelligent Sync profile in SyncBackPro to sync files (copy and delete files) in both directions (from source to destination and destination to source). Please read the Help file > Quick Start > Understanding Backup and Synchronization > Synchronize (Intelligent) for more details on Intelligent Sync profile.

Note as an Intelligent Sync profile copy and delete files in both directions, I suggest performing Simulated Run and check the Differences window closely to understand the list of files/folders that will be copied or deleted during the actual run.

Thank you.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • 1 Big file in -> n smal Files store -> 1 big file out ?

Hello,
I have got some encrypted files larger than 4 GB to backup. If the connection breaks down while a file is being transferred, the process must start again. SB Pro could 'secretly' split up files into small portions, memorize them and reassemble the portions when copying back. Is this, or something similar implemented?

Sorry, may think of something else in this context: Is there an option "Use profile's last source scan result"?

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Backing up Windows 10 image file

So I backup all the data files I need, now i would like to create and back up the OS in case of a crash or bum update, that is so common with Windoze 10. it seems. Not completely conversant with what I want, but assume/believe an image file is made and then backed up, can SyncBak Pro do this without the use of more software? Thanks in advance for any input.

I have successfully done this manually, within windows backup and restore, create a system image, but would like to schedule this on a routine basis within SynBack along with my other routine profiles. SyncBack uses other windows tools within their software so I would have thought this a possibility. Have noticed some other backup software includes this ability.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Skip if file size the same

Is there a way to automate the comparison such that if the file size is the same you want to skip copying over the file?

I have a backup where the dates of all the files have been changed (bad job, BackBlaze!). I am restoring from backup but where there are collisions and that is due just to file date change, I want to skip the restore and over-write if the file size is identical.

Thanks!!

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Destination folder based on the file date

I need to copy a group of files from a drive to another. All the files in the source are in a single folder.

The destination is also a single folder. However, the files should be stored in subfolders determined by the file creation date. The folder should be created if it does not exist. For example:

CODE:

Source (D:\data\):D:\data\x.jpg 12/Jan/2019D:\data\y.txt 15/Feb/2019D:\data\z.doc 16/Feb/2019D:\data\abc.mp4 16/Feb/2019

CODE:

Destination (F:\backup\):F:\backup\2019.01.12\x.jpgF:\backup\2019.02.15\y.txtF:\backup\2019.02.16\z.docF:\backup\2019.02.16\abc.mp4
I know that SyncBackPro can create subfolders based on variables but the variables available are related to the date the profile runs not the date of the file.

Do you know if this can be done? (Preferably in a simple way :) )

Thank you!

SyncBackFree (freeware) • Can I specify two different 'Source' folders?

Hello. In Profile Setup-->Simple, there is an field to specify the 'Source'. I see that I can specify one single folder in the 'Source' field. Is it possible to specify two different source folders, so that both are backed up to the same 'Destination' folder?

screen.png

Or would I have to create two separate backup profiles, one for each source?

Thanks.

Hello, I want to ask something before buying the pro version. Does it has any restriction related to the number of files or folders that can be synchronized? Because the microsodft software has a limitation of 20000 files.

I have this issue If I lock the computer. When I run a profile manually, I choose the option Shutdown the computer when all the profiles have finished, then lock the computer. The profile or profiles finish, then Syncback window just sits there.
However if I come back, unlock, close syncback voila now it shuts down imediatelty after. Not sure if it's sync back that will not shut, or a glitch in shutdown command from syncback.

SyncBackFree (freeware) • RUN: Does the folder being processed have to be deleted and recopied eash time?

I'm copying from a dedicated folder on C: It is mirrored on a USB Drive called USB Drive F:. Works pretty well. =D> But it seems as if each time I drag a fold into the C: dedicated folder, it will copy C: contents on a run but seems to delete the current contents of that folder on F: and all just to add a new different folder. Is that right? Can't if I drag a new folder/file in C:Dedicated Folder can't it just add that to F: Drive without deleted the contents of F: and copying all over again?

Clear as mud?

I will be grateful for any assistance. jack ":-Dx :?

Hi,

Only an Intelligent Sync profile in SyncBackPro/SE/Lite versions supports file move/rename detection (with the options “Detect file renames on left/right"). If a file is moved to a new folder on Source then the Sync profile detects this and moves the same file to a new folder on destination (instead of deleting and recopying the file). For additional details, read this forum post:

https://www.2brightsparks.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=12189

If you do not own a copy of SyncBackPro/SE/Lite versions and wish to test it's functions, you are welcome to try our fully functional SyncBack, which we offer a free 30-day evaluation.

https://www.2brightsparks.com/assets/software/SyncBackPro_Setup.exe

https://www.2brightsparks.com/assets/software/SyncBackSE_Setup.exe

http://www.2brightsparks.com/assets/software/SyncBackLite_Setup.exe

If you do decide to purchase, the serial number will convert the 'trial' to the 'registered' version.

Thank you
