SyncBackPro (commercial) • Re: NOT empty folders are deleted

Since I did not get a reply to help understanding this issue I did some further investigation. Result: the notification about the action "Delete from (destination)" is simply false. The folder does not get deleted since it's not empty. The notification is absolutely misleading :?

SyncBackSE (commercial) • Suggestions for Group Profiles

$

Hi, would it be possible to add the functionality to...

a) Disable and enable profiles at the group level? All of my group profiles are scheduled. At the moment, unless I'm missing something, I can only enable and disable the group by enabling and disabling the task in Windows Scheduler (or by enabling/disabling the profiles within the group). It would be much easier if I could do it within Syncback at the group level.

and

b) Email execution results at the group level. Again, AFAICS I can only send an email telling me the result for individual profiles. It would be good if I could set this up at the group level so I get a single email telling me the execution result of each of the profiles that make up the group.

(Cue someone telling me I can do one or both of these already and I just haven't realised it!)

Thanks.

Kevin

Hi,

Sorry, but ‘resume a broken file transfer’ option is not supported with Cloud services. In addition, we do not recommend backing-up files to a single zip file on a cloud server because the destination file is always replaced in each run (i.e. deleted and recreated), which will be very slow process. Thus, we suggest using multi-zip compression if your destination is a cloud server.

Thank you.

SyncBackSE (commercial) • File Modified Time when downloading.

Hi 2Bright

I am using Syncback SE, to keep a local drive in sync with an ftp server. That cleans up local after given time (through other methods - forfiles).

Due to this it would be great, if the modified date and time, of the downloaded files, could be reset to the time of download.

Is this possible, and where would i find this?

Thanks

Is it possible to exclude certain submaps in de destination map using the mirror profile.
Otherwise some important submaps will be deleted since they are no longer in the source

SyncBackFree (freeware) • run profile via ssh

$

Hello

I am trying to run a SyncbackFree profile on Windows 10 via ssh from a machine running Linux.

The ssh command I am using on the Linux machine is this -

CODE:

ssh john@192.168.1.11 "D:\Users\john\sync.bat"
The contents of 'sync.bat' on the Windows machine is this -

CODE:

@echo off"D:\Program Files (x86)\2BrightSparks\SyncBackFree\SyncBackFree.exe" syncssh nick@192.168.1.2 /home/nick/complete.sh
The profile does appear to run however the 'Results' column in Syncback then displays 'Network Failure' on completion. The batch does complete as the last line executes successfully.

Is there a way I can get this to work as intended or is it the case that what I am tying to do is not possible?

Many thanks

Hi,

You can deselect (or un-tick) sub-folders/files that you want to exclude from the profile's backup selections under:

Modify profile > Simple > Choose sub-directories and files settings page

Thank you.

Hi,

Wouldn't it be nice to test the V9 beta as it was done with previous major releases?
I haven't seen any reference in this forum.

Ideas and general discussion • Withdrawal of SyncBackLite

Hi,

I have discovered by chance that SyncBackLite has been withdrawn from marketing. Now, I'm unable to re-download the installer if needed and the corresponding section of this forum has been deleted. No information about this decision has been sent to the users of this version. However, these users are still alive, if I may remind.

Very surprising.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Encryption options

I use SB Pro to backup my laptop to a NAS. I would like to have the backup on the NAS encrypted. Are there options besides zip files?

For example, if I use QNAP's encryption or third party encryption of a shared folder, can SB handle feeding the password to be able to do scheduled backups? Or any other options I could look at?

Thanks!

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Which cloud storage?

$

I have been using SBP and MS OneDrive for Business for a few years, but MS policies and features are now causing me problems. Specifically the 5000 file limit on viewing and managing folders, and their automatic versioning which I cannot turn off. My backups are only in the region of 200GB, but I’m over quota at >1TB due to MS Versioning.

So, is there a cloud backup provider that anyone would recommend?

I’d like about 1TB. I transfer about 1GB per day. I hardly ever download the files as I have onsite backup too. I don’t need versioning. I need to it be compatible and work well with SBP v8 or the upcoming v9.

Thanks

Simon

Hi, personally I use Amazon S3 for my backups. V9 will support parallel file transfers with S3, so it will be very fast. Also, it's likely you'll be able to create an S3 bucket on a server that physically close to your location, so that will also help with performance.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Backuo for Modern Standby systems

$

Is SyncBackPro capable of waking a system (most likely a laptop) from Modern Standby (specifically DRIPs) on a guaranteed schedule, or is this planned in a future version?

Our Dell XPS laptops sleep in "Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) Network Disconnected", so that the LAN connection is down. Microsoft appears to be pushing people towards creating apps that use "Maintenance Mode" but that seems to require apps specifically run to support it, that can be suspended and resumed possibly multiple times and are only run as and when Windows decides, so cannot be guaranteed to complete to any schedule e.g. daily.

Old-style wake timers do not work on Modern Standby systems.
