SyncBackFree (freeware) • My profile starts running when I double click

Hello everybody,

I use SyncBackFree 8.6.3.0 (32bits) and I have set-up all my profiles to start running after showing the "differences screen" when I double click on their line.

My problem is that one profile doesn't show anymore the "difference screen" and starts its run immediately.

Could you please let me know where this option can be modified?

Thank you.
Guy

SyncBackSE (commercial) • Backup from NAS to NAS connected USB drives

As I type, I am running a SyncBack SE profile copying files from a Synology NAS to USB drive attached to the NAS.

Seems to work fine, but I wonder about speed. I'm getting about 25 MiBs/second. The NAS isn't the most powerful. Does this method route the copies from NAS => PC => USB Drive or does it go direct from NAS to USB Drive?

Anything to make this faster (other than the usual filtering, file selection, etc)?

Thanks

SyncBackFree (freeware) • Just one thing

SyncBack's quite impressive, but there's one thing I don't care for.

If you change a subfolder's name in any way—even by one character—then do a backup, SB doesn't analyze the backup and realize that all of those subfolder's contents had already been copied, and its name was just changed. It deletes the backed-up subfolder and recopies the whole thing.

This just happened again, backing up a 4-gb subfolder to a flash drive.

Maybe no backup software is that "smart". And yes, I know you can do a simulated run first, each time, and sift through it so you understand everything that'll happen, before it happens. :-k But yeesh, y'know?

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Slow upload speed to Google Drive

Hello,
so I'm using the latest version of SyncBackPro on a Windows 7 x86 VM to make a backup of a my media folder to the Google Drive Unlimited cloud.
My regular upload speed is 4,5 MB/s at a max, but SyncBackPro only uploads with around 1,8 MB/s. Can't get higher upload speed.

Just wanted to ask: is this speed limitation normal? Or does Google's API limit the speed somehow? Why can't I max out my upload speed?

Best regards,
reeze

Cannot auth with Amazon Drive...gives an Amazon error page. Any ideas? Amazon support says "theres no third party integation with syncbackpro" which is obviously untrue!

Ideas and general discussion • Add S3 AWS Storage Class destination for "S3 Glacier Deep Archive"

It would be great to add to S3 AWS the option for Storage Class especially when Amazon added nicely priced "S3 Glacier Deep Archive"

Example how it's done by competition:

CODE:

Using Glacier Deep Archive – CLI to upload a new object and set the storage class:$ aws s3 cp new.mov s3://awsroadtrip-videos-raw/ --storage-class DEEP_ARCHIVE
This would place files directly on required storage class and avoid need to do the lifecycle rules, etc...

IMHO now Amazon did some kind of shifting and allowed Glacier "type" under the S3 hood as the tiering option (Storage Class of S3)

Ideas and general discussion • Data Cap on Network Transfers

Hi,

I've been setting up a remote backup with OpenVPN to backup from my dad's place, the catch is that because he lives in Canada and Canadian ISPs are total crap they pretty much all have monthly data transfer limits.

Would it be possible to have an optional data cap option - something like this:

Data Cap Settings

-Day of month to reset limit
-Monthly data limit (perhaps an option to split into upload and download limits, but I think most ISPs use total up+down combined)
-Maybe have an option to add up and date a limit for all the scripts in a backup group if you are doing multiple network backups

Almost 3 years later, and I’m having the same exact problem transferring photos to Amazon drive with SB7.12.12.0
I have a 100/100Mbps fios internet connection. And i’m seeing ~100kbps, and lots of waiting count downs.
Was a resolution found for this?

SyncBackSE (commercial) • Rescue plan for an ailing HDD

I have an SSD for OS (Windows 10 Home) and apps, and an internal Seagate 3TB HDD for data. As has happened with many of the 3TB Seagate HDDs, mine is starting to fail. I also have a 4TB WD Blue as my backup drive. Trying to run the last incremental backup from my Seagate has been running for 32 hours and only 25% done. I suspect a bunch of file RW errors are torturing the SyncBack program. I want to mirror the Seagate to my WD with as much good data as possible, and I'll pickup the rest off of my NAS drive which was my backup drive until it filled up. I'm interested in any suggestions for the proper SyncBackSE profile configuration that will get me the most good data in the least amount of time. Thank you in advance for your input!

Help files, documentation, translations, etc. • Question about Intelligent syncronization

$

I'm currently using the free version SyncBackFree V8.6.3.0.

I want to upgrade to SyncBackPro but I have a question about how Intelligent Syncronization will work.
Here's an example of what I think it will do but want to check and make sure:

I back up from my desktop to an external hard drive.
I have a folder on my desktop that has jpg files in it. I create a new folder and move a jpg file in that folder to another folder. When I back up to the external drive, will it know to not only back up the new folder, but also remove the file on the external drive that was in the original folder?
Hope this makes sense.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Failed to rename temp file: File does not exist

Hi
I just started using SynchbackPro V8.6.6.3 64 bit version. I ran it 3 times and each time I get this same error 345 times:

Failed to copy from PC D: : Safe copy failed. Failed to rename temp file: File does not exist

I can verify that the files are there in the source directory but they all have a smiliar name. I am thinking the names may be at fault:

\websites\GreyRibbonCrusade\HoHPage\__MACOSX\HoH_GRC_logo7_09_B\._Grey_Ribbon_logo7_09.gif
\websites\GreyRibbonCrusade\HoH\__MACOSX\HoH_GRC_logo7_09\._HoHlogo7_09_outlines.eps

They all have the directory _MACOSX and most have the filename starting with ._

I have no idea why the directory is named that and why the files start with ._ but it is what it is and I can't change it but need to back it up

Yes, the default settings of an Intelligent Sync profile copies the file to the new folder on destination and removes that file from the older folder on destination. In addition, please note that the Intelligent Sync profile has an option to detect file renames/moves i.e. if a file is moved to a new folder on Source then the Sync profile detects this and moves the same file to a new folder on destination (instead of deleting and recopying the file). For additional details, read this forum post:

SyncBackPro (commercial) • NOT empty folders are deleted

Hi,

I am setting up a new profile to copy edited video files to my archive hard drive. It is set up to add new files and folders to the archive hard drive but not to copy any older files and folders back from the archive to the PC. If I set "Decisions - Files > Folder > What to do if a directory exits on Archive (destination) but not on PC (source) > Delete directory from Archive (if empty)" the profile wants to delete folders although they are not empty (see screenshots).

I just can't understand why this is happening. Any ideas for me?

Hi again,

Recently I upgraded the 'pre-release' version with the changes you looked at in this thread to the latest official version released on the website.
Since then I have just had a backup take 12 hours 42 minutes to complete.

Can you confirm that the fixes that were done are actually in the officially released version?

The version I currently have is V8.5.122.0

News and Announcements • SyncBack V9 release date: 1st June 2019

$

We're excited to announce that SyncBack V9 will be released 1st June 2019!

A lot of work has gone into adding the features that are most requested, one of which is delta copy. For the first time, the entire user interface has been updated. Another common request was parallel file copying, which we've added to several cloud services. Once V9 has been released we'll immediately start work on V9.1 and V9.2, which will add delta copy to the cloud and FTP (for V9.0 it's file-system only), as well as adding parallel file copying to FTP (for V9.0 it's cloud only). There are many other new features and improvements, which you can see on our V9 page.

If you purchased SyncBackSE V8 or SyncBackPro V8, from 2BrightSparks, on or after 1st May 2019 then you are entitled to a free upgrade to V9 once it is released. Also, if your Upgrade Assurance is active on or after 1st June 2019 then you will also be able to upgrade without any charge. If you have more questions please see our V9 FAQ:

If you still have questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Uploads do not resume?

Hi
So I have v8 pro - Im backing up to the cloud which is scheduled out of hours over an ADSL line.

I backup to encrypted zips of 10gb and upload in 31 parts.

The backups work ok in that they start and end as they should however the next day as it did not finish the full 10gb fle it begins again?

How can I eliminate this issue, is there a resume or block level that can take off from where it finished previous evening?

Thanks
