Hello,

You can use the mysqldump command on windows, it exist in the bin directory.

You get the same syntax as on linux.

for example :
mysqldump -h serveur -u user -ppass -B base > file

"file" is the database dump !

Good luck.

Hi, the reason you can't see the progress is that when a profile is run from a schedule it is run in a completely different session (from the desktop session) and in a different process.

SyncBack V7 (currently in beta) does allow you to see the progress of a profile being run in a different process (and session) but that's not possible with V6. With V6 you can only see the result once it has finished.

V7 is currently in beta and there is no release date at this time. To download the beta please sign-up to the beta mailing list:

Hi, Dave's taking a much needed vacation, so I'll jump in to answer your questions:

1) SyncBackFree has an extensive help file. When SyncBackFree is running simply press F1 at any time to get context sensitive help. In regards to PDF's, we don't stop people saving them. It's simply your web browser doing that. If you open it then I think there should be a save button in the PDF window to save it to a file.

2) SyncBackFree can't do incremental backups to different folders. When SyncBackFree does a backup it will only backup new and changed files but they will go to the same folder, not a different one. If you want to backup new and changed files to a different folder then you'll need to use the Fast Backup feature in SyncBackSE.

We have a KB article on running a profile and then shutting down the computer automatically:

Hello,

i need help fast backup SyncBackSe v5.20.0.0

I need to know how to make a backup rotation 1 full backup every 15 days and the remaining days incremental.

Thanks.

Hi, the help file has extensive details and examples on using Fast Backup. However, there is no variable with a 15 day cycle so I don't think it's possible with SyncBackSE (with Pro you can create your own custom variables using scripting, but although you've posted in the SyncBackPro forum you do state you're using SyncBackSE).

If it's acceptable you could set it to do a full backup when the current day is 15?

Jstew9,

I found this thread yesterday through Google.... and I had to tell that I am soooo happy that you posted this information! This is exactly the problem that I was having... the copying would randomly stop! I couldn't for the life of me figure it out until I read your post. While the exact versions of SEP I had weren't identical to yours, they were very close. My employer had an upgrade to SEP 12 available, and I upgraded to that, and boom, the problem was fixed! Also, I think the copying went faster, but I couldn't be sure, I was just too happy that it wasn't hanging! Thanks so much for posting!

Re: Copy Directory Modification Timestamp

I've had mixed success with getting Robocopy to maintain folder modified dates (I'd almost swear it once worked right away, but another time I'm pretty sure it did not. *shrug*) Anyway, the trick seems to be repeating the task. Even if the folders are modified immediately after creation by having files put in them, if no files need to be created the second time around, the modified dates should remain unchanged (Or rather, will be properly changed back to the original modified date instead of the current date.)

Therefore, if SyncBack had such an option to at least attempt to keep the modified date of a folder, wouldn't it work out if you ran a repeat job? As it is however I don't know if it even tries to copy a folder with the original modified date.

prompt when media is offline?

I was certain that this posted earlier today but it isn't showing up and doesn't appear when I select "View Your posts"

My first "periodical" backup failed this evening. I use an e-sata drive dock for backup and transfers of several disks and swap disks out as needed. The rest of the time it's powered off. It was off when the backup was scheduled. I had expected to receive a prompt telling me of a problem but it just failed instead. Is there an option that might warn me when the destination media isn't ready? I didn't notice one, but there are several pages of settings and maybe I missed it. Also the release notes for SyncBackFree V6.4.3.0 mention "New: New "Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed" option in Vista and newer task scheduler". I saw no such option, is it in SyncBackFree or Windows Task Scheduler? I don't use Task Scheduler for anything else at this time and haven't paid attention to setup over there.

After backup all browser logins are missing

Hi all and thank you for your help.

SyncBackPro V6.5.4.0 Trial

I have setup a mirror backup for my drive. It must also updates files when changed.

I use Adobe Lightroom for my photography. I have noticed that the thumbnails of photos of my whole library are missing and that I had to rebuild it. I thought is has something to do with a Windows error or something with Lightroom. But, I have also noticed that I had to enter my login details all over again on webforums I am registered, including Facebook.
I never have suspected SyncBackPro. But, I decided to delete my profile so SBP cannot run. Now all problems are fixed; thumbnails-file of Lightroom is in tact and I don't need to login to FB and other forums.

What setting can cause this in SBP? I know that it is not the software as such but a setting I have most likely set up wrong. I will appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on this for me, please. I can remember that I chose to not have SBP delete any files on the source drive.

Thank you very much for your help.
Regards, Deon

Hi, I can only think that you do have it set to delete source files or your software is set to use the files on the destination and not all files are being copied. For example, we don't copy thumbs.db files to the destination as Windows can easily recreate those using the files already there.

You could always export your profile and send us a copy of it. We can then check to see if there's anything obvious in the profile that would cause this:

Hi, you don't need to install SyncBack to retrieve your files (unless you had it set to compress the backup files). You can simply attach your external hard drive and use Windows Explorer to copy the files to your desktop PC.

Hi, to avoid the forum being full of spam all first posts must be manually approved before they appear on the forum.

If it's run from a schedule then there is no way to prompt you (as it runs in a different Windows session and so there's no way to interact with the logged on user). Having said that, if the profile is set to run only when you're logged in then it can prompt you as it then runs in the same Windows session.

If you've set it to run periodically, and not via the schedule, then it should prompt you if the media isn't ready unless you told it to run unattended (see When->Periodically settings page).

For the schedule setting: select your profile, click the Schedule button, click Edit Schedule, and at the bottom of the (Schedule) window that appears go to the Misc. tab. You'll see the setting on there (it is available on SyncBackFree).

Hi, thank you for the translation which will be in the next release.

Unfortunately there are quite a few other Catalan translations that need to be done (290 to be exact). Our Catalan translator is currently missing in action. Could you help translate the other strings to Catalan?

Hi,

1. To schedule a profile simply select it in the main menu and click the Schedule button. Follow the instructions on screen and refer to the extensive help file for more details (you can press F1 at any time for context sensitive help).

2. When creating a new profile simply select the Mirror profile. That will do exactly what you want.
