Under "Compare Options" --> "File Size", is there a way to Ignore files less than a specified amount, but only for certain file extensions (eg. only ignore .pngs that are under 5 MB)?

Hello,
I have created a profile and shortcut on desktop which trigger that profile as unattended run and everything works fine. What I want is to assign a preferences/when all profiles end/ shutdown option to that profile and avoid the need to adjust a shutdown option every time when that profile is run.
Simply, after backup always shutdown a computer. Please help me, thank you.

I am sure I'm just missing this, but I want to mirror 5 versions of a directory using Synbackpro 9, then the oldest gets deleted, rather than creating 5 separate mirror backups (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri).

Hi -- I'm trying to set up filter for 'files NOT to copy' -- I want to exclude all large files such as .iso files from being synced. The explanation for how to do this in the help is not clear to me. I want to sync an entire external HDD but EXCLUDE all files in ALL folders with the .iso extension. Is the proper syntax as follows:

*\*.iso

The help file at https://www.2brightsparks.com/syncback/help/filtersettings.htm shows this syntax but I don't think it's working for me. Is there another filter that I need to add to this?

I have just purchased Syncbackpro, and I am looking to set up a profile for backing up multiple Touch sources to my Google Drive. When I set the source to Touch the only option I get for destination is internal/external drive, and if I set the destination to Google Drive the only option for source is internal/external drive. From looking at the help file this seems to be the intended functionality, is that correct? If so, why? How can I create a backup meeting my requirements?

Hello, I have been testing with copies to a FTPS server, with the V9 version it works perfectly with the "Eldos" and "Weonlydo" engines, however with the "SmartFTP" engine it fails and gives an error that I have not been able to solve.
Exactly the same error that gives me in the V8 version, either SE or PRO, I can't get it to work...
Is it possible to change the FTP engine in the v8 version?

I understand that it would not be normal to have to change all the versions I have sold and distributed to V9 for this reason

Hello,

I use SyncBackPro to copy it from a csv file from an ftp server to a windows folder.
The problem is that I have another program that reads the files in the folder.
As a result, it happens that the file is not processed by my other program until it has finished downloading.
Is it possible to make syncbackpro modify the extension (example: file.tmp) and when the download is finished it returns the original one (.csv file)?

Look at checking the box in Copy/Delete, Advanced "Make safe copies (copy files using a temporary filename and then rename the file on success)" to see if it might do what you want.

Hi,

In SyncBack, if you select a non-standard resource (e.g. SyncBack Touch, FTP, Cloud, MTP, Compression, Encryption) on one side (Source/Destination) then you can only select standard resource (internal, external or network drive) on the other side. This is by the internal design aspects. Please read this KB article for additional details:

Therefore, if your Source is SyncBack Touch then you can’t select cloud on the other side. That means it's not possible to backup files from SyncBack Touch to a cloud server using a single profile.

However, you can achieve this by creating 2 profiles in SyncBackPro:
1. Create a Profile to copy files from SyncBack Touch to a temporary folder on the local drive.
2. Create a second Profile to copy files from temporary folder to cloud server.
3. Create a Group and add those two profiles as members to the group so that when the Group is run the profiles run in a sequence.

Sorry, not possible. WeOnlyDo and Eldos FTP engines are supported only in V9.

In V8, WeOnlyDo FTP engine is supported when backing-up files to SFTP server.

I've created a back-up profile which creates a single ZIP file containing about 200Gb of folders and files. It's set as a Fast-Backup because 99.9% of the files won't change from back-up to back-up.

The first time I ran the profile 2 days ago it took 4h 15m. The second day it took 5h 12m and today it took 10h 49m. This is despite the fact that the source data has barely changed in those 3 days.

Can anyone think why it is taking so long?

I'm using v7.6.36.0

SyncBackFree (freeware) • File mysteriously skipped during backup

Apologies if this has come up before, I have searched the forum but can't find other with the same problem.

I've been using SyncBackFree for several years for backup of my PC hard disk to a USB hard disk, and usually works fine.
Last night I ran a backup which successfully backed up over 19,000 files to a new backup folder.
A single file was skipped, and I can't work out why.
When I re-run the backup, that file is still skipped.
Other files in the same folder (some larger, or with longer names) are backed up OK.
The file in question is a PDF file that hasn't been opened for years.
The file properties aren't unusual (not read-only).
I tried renaming the file - still skipped.
I tried copying the skipped file - the copy is also skipped.
If I move the copy to another folder, even the root directory, it is still skipped.
I zipped the original file to a compressed file (ie same name but file ext .zip) - and that was backed up OK.
But why is the original file skipped? Any suggestions?

My first thought is that you have a filter setting causing the problem.
My second thought is the file is locked.

SyncBack Touch • Am i too silly to setup Touch?

I try to set up a backup from my Android Phone (Samsung Note8) to my notebook. I can not find my celelar at all, only my Notebook. When I want to backup my photos from my Note8 to the notebook I think that the celular should be the source and the notebook the destination. But I only can find the notebook with SyncBackPro running on it.

When I setup a new profile what is SyncBack Touch as Source? The notebook or the celular?
Connection to my Note8 works fine with backups, no connection problems.
I only can not find it in Touch, error msg is 'Failed to find SyncBack Touch device SM-N950F.'
Online Help with connection problems pops up
It states:
For SyncBackPro to connect to SyncBack Touch it needs two things:
1.The I.P. address, or hostname, of the remote computer SyncBack Touch is running on.
2.The TCP port number the remote SyncBack Touch is listening on. By default, it is port 8080.
OK, and where should I put these data in? No info about this little detail...

2BrightSparks ads claim that it is very easy to do all these connections and backups, but when I start to set it up I only get confused by all the things that do not work....

I am kind of lost!

SyncBackSE (commercial) • Scheduler Start Time - Can't get it to accept beyond 7PM

I've been using for SyncBack myself for *many years* and regularly have my clients purchase it for their systems.

I'm still using v8 and it's fine.

But I just installed v9 for a client and aside from trying to navigate around the changed screens from what I was used to, two items gave me trouble.

(1) How to change to "Expert Mode"

but more importantly ...

(2) No matter how much I tried, I just couldn't get the scheduler to schedule beyond 7PM !!!

I want 11PM but no matter what couldn't get the scheduler to even let me type it in.

Then I thought maybe it's a 24 hour clock and I'll try 23:00 but could not do that either.

I tried and tried.

Does this sound familiar or am I just losing it?
