trying to set file rename on case/properties change for destination backblaze, but the option is greyed out(unsupported)? Backblaze B2 supports this via their api: https://www.backblaze.com/b2/docs/b2_copy_file.html (b2_copy_part for large files), so it could be implemented by copy + delete . Please consider supporting this.
Currently automatic renames/copies attributes to source(undesirable). So i have it on ask for prompt.

SyncbackSE 6.4.3.8 / W8

I have a Profile I created recently. Every time I run it, it fails. Failure is because "The system cannot find the file specified." I have gone to "Choose sub-folders and files," but the offending files don't exist. How do I skip nonexistent files?

Sorry, but I bought several licenses of Syncback PRO because they supported FTPS and now that I have to use it it turns out that it doesn't support it, in the specifications it clearly says that it supports FTPS.
Please solve the problem or offer me an upgrade to V9, I bought several licenses that should work, I do not understand or understand the answer.
Greetings

Hello!
I have installed SyncBackFree (great thanks to authors!).
Howewer, I have a problem: one of task (profile) performing without end.
It's a task of mirroring files (count of files - approximately 500000).
Endless task performing only if destination is a network drive.
SyncBackFree is installed on computer with OS Windows Pro 8.1 64-bit.
Source - a folder on computer with OS Windows Pro 8.1 64-bit
Desination - share on computer with OS Windows 10 Home 32-bit.
Process goes very well, and in one monent it's hangs:
process going on without access to files on network drive
(i've checked it with Process Monitor).
I'd appreciate an answer to my question.
Sorry for may very BAD English

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Backup & Restore To & From Dropbox

Hi - I am interested in buying this software so that I can backup my Photo Collection (currently around 500GB but likely to be 1.5TB in the next few months). Obviously I could just copy them all to my PC's Dropbox folder and sync them that way and then close Dropbox, delete them from the local DB folder after they've uploaded and then reopening Dropbox later. I've done this many times with stuff - it's fiddly but doable. Obviously by saying all that my overall concern is I don't want to have 2 copies of my Photo Collection on my Desktop PC as space is precious. OK, then if I have to restore (say the whole damn thing), I hit the max download limit that Dropbox imposes. So all in all this way of Backing Up and Restoring isn't practical/doable.

Given that SyncBackPro advertises that it works with Dropbox, exactly how do I achieve what I want to do please? I want to initially backup my full collection followed by Incremental (is that the correct name?) backups on say a weekly basis for any changes. If then, say I had a complete SSD failure (my photos are stored locally on a 2TB NVMe SSD), how would the Restore work? I have searched the forum for "Restore" but this word is rejected by the search system for some reason lol! In both cases (ie; Backup and Restore) I want to bybass the need to have the Photo Collection backed up and restored to and from my PC's Local Dropbox folder.

Can I chieve what I want to do with this software please?

Thanks

SyncBackSE (commercial) • better error handling please

$
0
0
I've tried a number of different sync programs and while SyncBack seems to be the best all round, it's unfortunately no good at all when it comes to handling file system errors. The current error handling system seems to just be "log it and move on" which actually isn't handling errors at all, it's just noting them down for a human to manually handle later.

I'm syncing to a windows network share over VPN so it's a regular windows network file copy, but over slow internet speeds and it occasionally generates transient "access denied" errors. I can't do anything about these. These errors always go away if you retry them, but SBSE does not do this. They are just logged and that's it, and if you're using the fast backup system (which is necessary due to network speeds) then on the next run, these failures go into the fast backup database as needing to be copied in full, which means lots of wasteful data copying - which can again fail for the same transient errors.

I can never get my backup to be 100% complete because of this, because scanning the destination will always result in a large number of random files and folders that failed with an error, and the only thing I can do is another full scan which results in another large number of random failures, or copy a large amount of data needlessly, some of which will also fail for the same errors and so a full scan is still needed to pick up the pieces after.

I've been using Free File Sync as well, which isn't particularly good software, but it does handle errors well - it has the option to retry any errors (both in analysis and in copy) X times with X second delay, and this solves all of my problems 100%. It is missing many other features that SBSE has, so I can't really use it. Yet it handles errors perfectly, and it's completely free! Currently I have to do a full scan and copy using Free File Sync after using SBSE, in order to be certain that I've actually achieved 100%.

SBSE would be absolutely fantastic if it could handle errors automatically - simply the option to "retry errors X times after X second delay" in the profile would be ideal, should be simple to implement, and it would make this genuinely useful and good software.

What would be even better is if any files that are still failed after X attempts during analysis, if you're running a fast backup, then these should go back into the fast backup database to be scanned again. They shouldn't go into the database to be copied in full, as they currently do - they have failed to be analysed, so on the next run they again need to again be analysed, not copied in full

SyncBackFree (freeware) • Can SB pause a profile from itself ?

$

Question A (PAUSING without user request)
If a profile executes a profile taking a long time, maybe you want to take a pause for yourself. But several things may happen during your absence.
Windows operating system might think it should do something on its own (e.g. power management). Assuming that you only leave your computer for an hour or so, would it be normal that waking up the system by moving the mouse, you see that the current session (backup/mirror) has been PAUSED ?

Question B (PAUSING on request)
If a profile is running (backup/mirror) you might want to pause it and power down the system in order to proceed further at next Windows session.
I don't know if that's possible. My fear is that what has been already copied to destination will be erased. (aborting!)
Maybe this can be done ? If so, how to do that?

Question C (Associated to B)
Is there an option to let SB (freeware or other version) power down the system after completion of a running profile ?

Thank you for any help.

I have found the issue.
The user that was running the tasks did not have the proper rights.

See this link to fix it:
https://audministrator.wordpress.com/2017/04/05/windows-task-scheduler-fails-with-error-code-2147943785/

Or if you are running in a domain, go to your domaincontroller and open GPO editor then go to:
Computer - Policies - Windows Settings - Security Settings - Local Policies - User Right Assignment - Log on as batch job
Then add the user there, run a GPUpdate on your server/client which has SBP running and voilá it works like a charm!

Hope this wil help you!

Run one or the other.

An Explanation of the Backup Process
A backup copies files in one direction: from the source to the destination.
Note that a backup is not a synchronize process.

An Explanation of the Mirror Process
Mirroring ensures that one drive (or folder) contains the same files as another drive (or folder). It is not the same as a backup because it deletes files. It is also not the same as synchronization because it only copies files in one direction.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Antimalware Service Executable

Today when trying to use an existing backup profile to a network drive i ran into an issue. It had worked fine a couple months ago, but now it was unable to complete scanning the destination (or even start). When i looked into windows' task manager i noticed that the Antimalware Service Executable process was showing plenty of network activity, but nothing was happening. Eventually SyncBack stopped saying the scan could not complete. Then I discovered that the profile completes just fine when i disable integrity check on destination. The network drive is connected to a Raspberry Pi with OMV if that matters.

Turns out Integrity Check is not really useful for me here anyway though. I just wanted to check if the files copied correctly, but it doesn't really work that way. Any way i can manually do a 'Verify' run after the fact?

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Build 20150+ hangs SyncBackPro 8

Are you aware that in Build 20150 (and now 20152) SyncBackPro 8.9.15.0 no longer runs? It's quite strange: makes it into memory, but no UI, and you have to end it via Task Manager. Nothing in Event Viewer about it.

Clearly something has changed in this next-gen version of Windows slated for release next year. It's currently in Insider testing.

Any workarounds?

All previous builds before 20150 presented no problem.

SyncBackFree (freeware) • Resetting Run (with prompts) from Run (Unattended)

Colleagues

Sorry for what is likely a very basic question, but I did not see a Forum post on this topic.

I currently have nine separate profiles grouped as one so that I can quickly back up files between home and office computers via USB drive. Some of the profiles prompt me when changes are identified, however a few do not. Somewhere along the line I must have selected the drop-down during a run and told SyncBack free (currently running v 9.3.30.0 32-bit) to run unattended.

How do I reverse course and tell SyncBack that I want to be prompted whenever differences are encountered (e.g. disable Run Unattended)?

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

I do not think "Run unattended" is your problem in SyncBackFree, as that is only likely done by scheduling.
Instead, I suggest you look at the "Decisions-Files" tab for "Do nothing, Skip the file" being set in the problem profiles.
