SyncBackFree (freeware) • Backup not working

I have set up five backups for five separate folders, including Desktop, to back up on a daily basis. The Desktop backup works but although the program indicates that the others do back up on a daily basis nothing happens. I have checked the set up on several occasions and can find nothing that is different in the four compared with the one that does work - any suggestions?

I don't really think you have given enough details for anyone to help you find the problem.
You might start with indicating what version of SyncBackFree you are running?
How are you starting each backup? Manual? Scheduled?
Where exactly are you seeing "the program indicates that the others do back up"?
How are you determining that the four did not work?
What do the logs show on the one that works and on the four that don't work?

SyncBackFree (freeware) • Suncback does not copy some folders - why?

Hi,

I'm running Syncback since they started many years ago and never had any problems (and I never updated). Since I had to go from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro in the beginning of this year, I had to install the newer version of Syncback (9.3.17.0 - 32bit).
Yesterday I backed up my 5TB ext. HDD with new content of flac files to my PC (one folder called Flac and 6000 subfolders). I thought all went well and then made changes on my PC within the flac folder. Then I backed up that content from the PC to my ext. HDD. When I checked the log file afterwards I reali that content from the HDD was deleted because it was not copied in the first place to the PC.
How can this occur please? Is that content gone now forever which would be quite a big upset for me and one day's work to get that content ripped again or can I recover it?

I know I'm using the free version but I guess that same would occur with a paid version too?

Thank you kindly for any help.

Cheers
Caesar

Guys, how would I configure the sending of email only when the backup fails?
I would also like to create a single time without having to go through each backup profile, is there any way?

Hi, I have the free version on Windows 7 and I have an profile to move a file from a server to a FTP site. It will not do it until I modify the profile and click Choose sub-directories and files and hit ok and ok. I don't change anything. After that when I run it, it works fine. I also have the pro version on a Windows Server 2012 and it doesn't work half the time either. Any suggestions?

SyncBackPro (commercial) • Folder timestamps in mirroring

I'm brand new to SyncBack - trying to use it for mirroring Windows User data. I used SyncBackFree for one day until I discovered it set the Modified Date and Created Date to the mirrored date. So I purchased SyncBackPro, changed the profile settings to include "Copy sub-directory attributes and creation date" and "Copy file creation date & times", deleted my backups, and took a new backup. Same thing - all directory Created and Modified dates in the backup are today.

Is there some other option I need to set?

I don't mind paying for SyncBackPro if I can get this to work, but having the dates changed is a show-stopper. I'll need to use a different product.

Sadly it is time to say Good Bye to Syncback. I found a more reliable program and will use that in the future.

Hello.

Using V9.3.30.0

I have two profiles suddenly failing.

They both run regularly (every 15 minutes) and upload files to an FTP server.

The FTP server hasn't changed in years.

The errors are happening about 20 times per day.

The most common error is:

CODE:

Scan failed (-1): Expected another server reply(15) : 500 PORT/EPRT (Active Mode/Extended Active Mode) is not supported. Use PASV/EPSV instead of this
This error occurs a lot too:

Clarifying: the device is a MacBook Pro, the objective is to back it up every time I get home and connect to my Wi-Fi Network.

Source is the Mac on the network [\\MacBook-Pro\Macintosh HD\Users\] Destination is My Windows PC with SPB installed.

SyncBackFree (freeware) • Failed to scan files:

What does: "Failed to scan files: Cannot read from zip file. (505) (Destination)" mean?

This occurs on what appears to be a random basis (every second or third time) on several backup profiles. This also makes SyncBackFree unreliable.

I have several backups scheduled after 11 PM and separated by ~30-minutes.

This appears to be a recent problem since I have been using SyncBackFree fro many years. A manual run seems to work.

Windows 8.1, 64-bit with SSD.

SyncBackFree V9.3.40.0 (32-bit)

Backup is zipped using 7-Zip and saved to an external SSD.

Using for example:

cscript "C:\Program Files (x86)\2BrightSparks\vbs_files\TimeStamp.vbs" "\\RT-AC88U-FILES\Backups - David\Misc\Downloads.zip"

Where "RT-AC88U-FILES" is the external SSD. It is shared between me and my wife via an ASUS router. Her computer is off at night.

Ideas and general discussion • Zip file versioning

I'm helping a guy backup his program. The company recommends backing up the entire directory located on the root of C.

What I would LOVE to do is compress the folder into a zip and just have different versions of the zip up to X number.

Example

Software.zip
Software7152020.zip
Software 7162020.zip

and so on.

This feature would be great.

Ok, so after researching it I did find the variable I could use %DATE%.Zip

Which is pretty sweet, although I would like it to keep only X number of Zip files as not to completely fill up his backup drive.

SyncBackPro (commercial) • v5 vs v9

I downloaded the trial of v9

I don't really like the design. I'm fairly sure this is not just because I'm knew to it. I find 5 more straightforward, and the bits of 9 that are supposed to be helpful just make it confusing.

Is there much in 9 that is lacking in 5? If I upgraded to 9SE from 5 pro would this be a step forward or back?
I'm a homeoffice user, I use syncback to sync my desktop machine to my backup. Each backup tends to be large though because it's photos and videos.

Hi,
Guys, how would I configure the sending of email only when the backup fails?
Enable the option "Only send the email if an error occurs" under: Modify > Expert > Log > Advanced settings page.
I would also like to create a single time without having to go through each backup profile, is there any way?
You can create a shared setting for the Email Log page in one profile and use the shared setting in other profiles. Please read the help file > Using SyncBack > Basic Operations > Shared setting for details on how to create shared settings in SyncBack.

Thank you

SyncBackPro (commercial) • out of memory error

trying to run a sync from an 8tb drive to a 40tb drive (via drivebender)
All the versions of syncback i've tried have given out of memory errors. Even the 64 bit versions
I suspect this is due to filepath size, but I can't be sure.

anyone else run into this, and is there a way round it?
